About Panteras

Panteras competes at the FIRST (For Inspiration and Recognition of Science and Technology) competitions: FIRST Robotics Competition, the higher category; and FIRST Tech Challenge, the intermediate category. It also has VEX teams, an educational platform which allows educators to easily customize projects to meet the level of students’ abilities.

Panteras has received several recognitions in its city and country, as well as internationally. It won the World Championship Rookie All Star Award in 2007. In 2008, Panteras FTC 801 won the World Championship Inspire Award, the highest recognition for an FTC team. Chrysler also gave the Team Spirit Award to Panteras at the FIRST World Championship in 2010. That same year, the former governor of the Federal District gave the team an honor mention at the Youth’s Award in the category of “Civic, environmental and social labor”. In 2011, it won the second place of the same contest in the category of “Academic, scientific or professional activities.” For 2013, Panteras has qualified for the World Championship with the Engineering Inspiration Award and Finalist Alliance Award at the Dallas regional.

Panteras is an integral project. It’s not only based in the construction of a robot. The team makes social labor, charity collects and helps different organizations to integrate and develop the technology in education. With these activities, Panteras gives opportunities to the country’s youth to develop scientific and technological project at a world-class level.

About FIRST

FIRST was founded in 1989 to inspire young people's interest and participation in science and technology. Based in Manchester, NH, the 501 (c) (3) not-for-profit public charity designs accessible, innovative programs that motivate young people to pursue education and career opportunities in science, technology, engineering, and math, while building self-confidence, knowledge, and life skills.

Its mission is to inspire young people to be science and technology leaders, by engaging them in exciting mentor-based programs that build science, engineering and technology skills, that inspire innovation, and that foster well-rounded life capabilities including self-confidence, communication, and leadership.

"The varsity Sport for the Mind," FRC combines the excitement of sport with the rigors of science and technology. Under strict rules, limited resources, and time limits, teams of 25 students or more are challenged to raise funds, design a team "brand," hone teamwork skills, and build and program robots to perform prescribed tasks against a field of competitors. It’s as close to "real-world engineering" as a student can get. Volunteer professional mentors lend their time and talents to guide each team.
